Film Project: Imoinda is a new opera by Odaline de la Martinez and a part of her "Slavery Trilogy", which Martinez is completing with the help of a 2015 New Works/Female Composers grant from Opera America. Ms. Martinez is a Cuban -American composer who resides in the UK. During a recent visit to the States, she sat in on Opera Ebony's rehearsal of Così fan tutte. Captivated by the glorious singing, staging and orchestral playing, Martinez approached Opera Ebony to produce Imoinda. Phase One, a video recording of staged scenes, will be distributed to Opera America-affiliated companies.
